Comrade Chima Iwundu Joins Anglican Women In August Gen Meetings, Supports Church Activities
The 2026 August General Meeting season of Anglican women in parts of Isiala Mbano commenced on Sunday, August 16, with Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel identifying with the women of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Umuagwuruihe, and St. James Anglican Church, Ekwedim, as they began their annual programmes with worship, thanksgiving and community fellowship.
At Emmanuel Anglican Church, Umuagwuruihe, the women commenced their yearly August General Meeting with a church service, which was attended by Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel as an August visitor.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the Comrade to fulfil a commitment he had made to the church during the burial ceremony of his mother.
In keeping with that promise, he provided scores of pews for the church, contributing to the comfort and development of the worship centre.
He also presented a sound amplifier to the church to enhance worship services, preaching and other church activities.
A major highlight of the visit was the ceremonial cutting of the August General Meeting cake by Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel, symbolically marking the commencement of the women's annual gathering.
The Comrade thereafter joined the women of St. James Anglican Church, Ekwedim, who, as part of the 2026 August General Meeting of Aladinma Ekwedim Women, invited him to participate in the commencement of their programme.
The occasion commenced with a church service, after which Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel unveiled and cut the August General Meeting cake.
The event also featured the church launching of wrappers.
One of the most remarkable and deeply touching moments of the visit occurred when the Pastor in charge of St. James Anglican Church, Ekwedim, took the congregation down memory lane, recounting a personal connection that dates back to the early days of his pastoral journey.
According to the Pastor, when he was beginning his pastoral ministry, the late parents of Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel took him in and adopted him as part of their family. He recalled the warmth, acceptance and familial bond that existed between him and the Comrade's late parents during those formative years of his ministry.
The recollection brought a deeply personal dimension to the occasion, transforming the visit from a routine August Meeting engagement into a moment of remembrance, gratitude and continuity between generations.
For Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel, the testimony was particularly significant, as it provided a living reminder of the values of love, hospitality, service and community which his late parents embodied.
It was also a poignant illustration of how acts of kindness and genuine human relationships can transcend generations, leaving memories that continue to live on within families, churches and communities.
Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel was accompanied on the visits by the Isiala Mbano PDP Chairman, Sir Iyke Ajaero, members of Ezienyi Amaka International Club, other community personalities and PDP faithful.
The day's engagements provided opportunities for fellowship with the Anglican women, interaction with members of the churches and practical support for church activities.
More importantly, the visits demonstrated a commitment to maintaining strong relationships with grassroots institutions and honouring commitments made to communities.
From the provision of pews and a sound amplifier at Emmanuel Anglican Church to the participation in the August General Meeting activities at St. James Anglican Church, the day combined service, remembrance, faith, community and family bonds.
For Comrade Chima Iwundu Joel, the August visits were therefore more than ceremonial appearances.
They were opportunities to give back, honour the memory and values of his late parents, support the church and identify with the women and communities as they commenced their 2026 August General Meeting activities.
A day of worship.
A day of giving.
A day of remembrance.
And, above all, a day of community and enduring relationships.
