Barau GM, Iorfa Clarifies On Their Withdrawal From Gusau/Ahlan Cup

The General Manager of Barau FC, Dominic Iorfa, has clarified that his team withdrew from the ongoing Gusau/Ahlan Pre-season Tournament due to the unprofessional conduct of the organisers following the tragic news involving a player of Katsina United. 

In a statement, Iorfa expressed dismay that matches were still allowed to hold despite the tragic incident saying that he is 100 percent fully a professional Ex-International and administrator that is sympathetic to fellow human beings.

He went further to question the organisers for failing to adhere to the competition rules and fixtures arrangements for all the participating teams saying that the friendly match between Katsina United and Niger Tornadoes where the tragic incident happened ought not to have taken place because it was not part of the fixtures arrangements.

According to him, "People may wish to know that Katsina United and Niger Tornadoes were overdue for their second matches in the competition. Katsina United played the opening game against Wikki Tourists on Saturday while Niger Tornadoes played theirs against Barau FC on Sunday. 

"Meanwhile, Barau FC were due to play their second game today (Tuesday) at 2pm while Wikki Tourists played theirs today also at 8am. Why didn't they play their second group matches instead of organising a friendly match since the competition is scheduled for only 10 days?" 

The General Manager noted that as a professional administrator and former Nigeria International who believes in professionalism, competitions of such magnitude should follow the laid down rules and regulations. 

Iorfa reiterated that Barau FC believes strongly in fair play of the game and professionalism devoid of conducts that won't add to the growth and development of the game.
