"No Sentiments! Edidiong Leads Enyimba’s War Against Remo Stars”

The Enyimba International Stadium, Aba this Sunday will be the center point as the People’s Elephant lock horns with Remo Stars in a blockbuster NPFL Matchday 36 encounter billed for 4pm.

With the league entering its decisive stretch, the stakes could not be higher for Enyimba FC, who are determined to secure maximum points at home and strengthen their position on the table in their push for a strong finish to the season.

Interestingly, the fixture comes with a special emotional twist for Enyimba striker and former Remo Stars forward, Ezekiel Edidiong, who admitted that Sunday’s clash will stir old memories, but insists loyalty to the Aba giants comes first.

Speaking ahead of the game, the former Nigeria junior international described the match as an emotional one, but maintained that Enyimba’s mission remains nonnegotiable.

“I had a beautiful memory with Remo Stars and I am looking forward to playing against them this weekend,” Edidiong revealed.

“I feel a bit emotional regarding the memories i had with them but right now the pride of the People’s Elephant is first.”

The forward, who also previously featured for Akwa United, is expected to play a key role as Enyimba prepare to battle a Remo Stars side known for their tactical discipline and sharp attacking transitions haven scored in the reverse fixture in the first round at Abeokut.

Edidiong also made a passionate call to the Aba faithful, urging them to flood the stadium and play their role as the club’s famous 12th man.

“I want to call on the esteemed fans of Enyimba to turn up in their numbers and support as we go for a non negotiable three points against Remo.”

Enyimba Technical Adviser, Coach Emmanuel Deutsch Gustavo, will be boosted by the availability of his leading striker Chidera Michael, who is expected to be fully refreshed for the league clash after being rested during the State FA Cup campaign.

However, there are concerns in defence as solid centre back, Emeka Onyema is currently racing against time to be fit after sustaining an injury during Enyimba’s Abia State FA Cup final triumph over AHUDIYANNEM FC, same as Peter Afolayan who was subbed in their last league game against Rangers in Enugu.

Both teams have met 15 times with Remo having the upper hand with 5 wins to Enyimba's 4 as 5 encounters ended in draw.
