Edidiong Confident As Enyimba Seek Positive Result In Benin Against Insurance

All roads lead to the historic Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City this Saturday as the NPFL Matchday 24 serves up a mouth-watering classic between hosts Insurance FC and Nine time champions, Enyimba FC.

With the league entering its decisive stretch, the clash promises fireworks as both sides chase crucial points in what has grown into one of the NPFL’s most evenly matched rivalries. 

In 14 previous meetings, bragging rights remain shared, four wins apiece and six stalemates, a statistic that underlines just how finely balanced this contest is.

When both teams met earlier in the season in Aba, the People’s Elephant showed their fighting spirit, twice coming from behind to secure a pulsating 3–2 victory. Enyimba striker Ezekiel Edidiong was on target in that encounter, alongside goals from Kalu Nweke and leading marksman Chidera Michael, a result Insurance will be desperate to avenge on home soil.

Ahead of Saturday’s 4pm kickoff, Enyimba’s second-highest scorer, Edidiong, has struck a confident and defiant tone, insisting the Aba giants are fully focused on returning from Benin with something positive.

“On Saturday we go against Insurance FC in Benin and we are focused on the task ahead,” Edidiong told Enyimba Media after Thursday’s training session.

“At this point we want to urge our darling fans not to relent in their unflinching support as we need them behind us, and we promise to keep working hard to ensure we finish the season on a high.”

The former junior international also turned the spotlight on his personal ambition, vowing to keep improving and delivering goals as Enyimba push for a strong end to the campaign.

“On my own part, I will continue to improve on my game and score more goals to help return the team to where it belongs,” he added.

With confidence high in camp, Enyimba head into the Benin battle knowing that a positive result could further ignite their late season surge.
