Enyimba Target Home Redemption Against Barau FC — Salman Eyes Maximum Points
Enyimba FC will return to familiar territory on Sunday as they host Barau FC in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 21 encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, with kickoff set for 4pm.
Still smarting from Wednesday’s disappointing setback against Shooting Stars Sports Club in Ibadan, the People’s Elephant have quickly shifted focus to the task ahead, determined to bounce back and reignite their campaign in the second stanza of the season.
Speaking after the team’s final training session on Saturday, Enyimba midfielder Salmanu Abubakar expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness and hunger to secure all three points.
“We are back to Aba after the unfortunate result in Ibadan and we have put the painful outing behind us,” Salmanu told Enyimba Media.
“Our focus right now is on the next league game against Barau FC and we are ready. We know it won’t be easy because they won their last match and are pushing to avoid relegation, but we are very hungry for the maximum points.”
Sunday’s fixture will be the second meeting between both sides in the top flight this season, following a goalless draw in the reverse fixture in Kano. With home advantage and the backing of their passionate supporters, Enyimba will be keen to ensure a different outcome this time around.
Salmanu also acknowledged the disappointment of the Ibadan loss but stressed the team’s resolve to make amends in front of the Aba faithful.
“The Ibadan game was a bitter one to swallow and we are aiming to compensate our ever supportive fans with a good result,” he added.
“We urge the fans not to lose hope. We have just started the second stanza and we are fully spurred for the three points.”
As the league reaches a crucial phase, Enyimba know that consistency at home will be vital to their ambitions. Sunday’s clash against a Barau FC side battling to climb away from the relegation zone presents an opportunity for the Aba giants to respond with authority and reaffirm their credentials in the NPFL.
