Imo Set To Make History As Gov Hope Uzodimma Para-Games Debuts, Powered by Amb Ogbonna

Imo State is on the verge of scripting a landmark moment in Nigeria’s sporting history as preparations gather momentum for the maiden edition of the Governor Hope Uzodimma Para-Games.

The groundbreaking event, powered by the indefatigable Chairman of the Imo State Sports Commission, Hon. Sir, Dr Prince  (Amb) Eleazer Onyewuchi Ogbonna Jp  FINCA, is designed to celebrate, inspire and empower special athletes across the state and beyond.

Speaking through his Personal Assistant, Mr. Eze, the Commission Boss noted that para sports have long been a source of glory for both Imo and Nigeria on the national and international stage. He stressed that the resilience, determination, and excellence displayed by para-athletes deserved not only commendation but also a platform that truly recognizes their talents.

“This Games is a fitting recognition of the indomitable spirit of our para-athletes and also a testament to the vision of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Dist. Sen. Hope Odidika Uzodimma, who has consistently championed opportunities for Imo youths, particularly in sports,” Ogbonna affirmed.

The YSFON Pillar Sports in South East also said he was motivated to sponsor the Para-games by His Excellency's empowerment programme for the youths and support for sports development in the state adding that he wants the special citizens to stay active.

Athletes will compete across six electrifying disciplines—Para-tennis, Para-powerlifting, Para-basketball, Para-shot put, and Para-table tennis—with each event promising to unearth new talents and ignite the passion of sports lovers in the state.

The organizing committee, will be made up of Selected officials of the associations and experts from each sport, who will work closely with the Imo State Sports Commission to ensure a world-class competition.

In addition to prestigious awards, the Games will offer a range of incentives for outstanding athletes, further motivating the next generation of para-sports champions who have continued to bring glory to Imo and the nation.

As the countdown begins, all eyes will be on Owerri, where the maiden Gov Hope Uzodimma Para-Games is set to send a powerful message of inclusivity, empowerment, and excellence.
