SULE ON FIRE! Enyimba Thrash El-shama As Nelson Bags Another Hat-trick
Enyimba FC delivered a ruthless statement in the 2026 President Federation Cup Round of 64, as the People’s Elephant cruised to an emphatic 4-0 victory over El-shama FC at the Bwari Township Stadium, Abuja on Tuesday.
The spotlight once again belonged to sensational youth product, Sule Nelson who continued his breathtaking scoring run in the oldest football competition in Nigeria by smashing another hat-trick, further stamping his authority as Enyimba’s newest goal machine.
With Coach Emmanuel Deutsch Gustavo showing faith in the squad that conquered the Abia State Federation Cup, only goalkeeper Nathaniel Asibe, returning from injury, and Azuka Nzubechukwu Bruno were drafted into the squad.
From the opening whistle, the four time Federation Cup champions asserted dominance, pinning the Gombe based NLO-One side deep in their territory.
Sule Nelson and Bruno both missed early opportunities, but Enyimba’s relentless pressure finally paid off in the 28th minute, when Sule produced a moment of pure brilliance dribbling past a defender and rounding the goalkeeper before calmly slotting home a classy opener.
Enyimba went into the break with a deserved 1-0 lead, but the second half turned into a full blown demolition.
Sule doubled the advantage in the 51st minute, finishing with composure to extinguish any hopes of a comeback, before completing his hat-trick in the 65th minute, leaving Elshama shattered and the Abuja crowd buzzing.
Three minutes later, veteran striker Stanley Dimgba added gloss to the scoreline with a well taken fourth, sealing a commanding victory and confirming Enyimba’s superiority on the day.
Speaking after the match, hat-trick hero Sule Nelson praised the collective effort of the squad and the trust shown by the coaching crew.
“I thank my teammates for making the game easy for me since after graduating into the main team, and the technical crew for believing in us,” Sule said.
The win further highlights Enyimba’s growing pool of emerging talents, with the likes of Samuel Okechukwu ‘Eshiwe’, Goodluck Kemakolam, and Azuka Nzubechukwu Bruno continuing to show promise clear evidence that despite a turbulent league campaign, the Aba giants are building a formidable future.
Enyimba will now shift focus to the NPFL, as they prepare for their final home league fixture against Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri on Sunday, with hopes of finishing the season strongly and securing their top flight status.
With Sule Nelson in this devastating form, the People’s Elephant’s Federation Cup ambitions are looking increasingly realistic.
