NWFL CHAMPIONSHIP 2026: FIRST MAHI BABES FC UNVEILS NEW LOGO, STEPS UP RECRUITMENT FOR PROMOTION PUSH

As preparations intensify ahead of the 2026 Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Championship season, ambitious campaigners, First Mahi Babes FC of Abajah, have taken a bold step towards achieving their premier division dream with the unveiling of a newly rebranded club logo and an aggressive recruitment drive.

The Abajah in Nwangele LGA of Imo State based women’s football side, widely regarded as one of the fast-rising clubs in the NWFL Championship, has continued to strengthen its squad with the recruitment of dedicated and quality players, as the club aims to surpass its performance from last season where they narrowly missed out on promotion to the NWFL Premiership.

The club has recently also undergone a major identity upgrade with the redesign of its official emblem into a modern, internet-friendly logo, reflecting a new direction and renewed ambition.

Speaking on the development, the Club Chairman and Proprietor, Prince Chidiebere Eze Onuoha, confirmed that the club’s rebranding is part of a wider strategic plan to rebuild and reposition First Mahi Babes FC for greater success in the coming campaign.

“Yes, we are working hard ahead of the league season and we are undergoing rebranding and rebuilding to enable us achieve our desired goal,” Prince Onuoha stated.

He explained that the newly unveiled logo represents the club’s fresh vision, growth, and determination to reach the top flight, especially after the disappointment of missing out on promotion last season.

“The new logo is to reflect the club’s new direction after narrowly missing promotion into the Premiership last season,” he added.

The Chairman further expressed optimism that the club’s ongoing recruitment programme and improved preparations will yield positive results when the league commences.

“We are positive this season will be a favourable one, so we are working round the clock with recruitment,” he concluded.

With the unveiling of the new emblem and renewed efforts in player acquisition, First Mahi Babes FC has clearly signaled its intent to be a major contender in the 2026 NWFL Championship, as the club sets its sights firmly on securing promotion to the NWFL Premiership and establishing itself among Nigeria’s elite women’s football teams.

The club’s rebranding is expected to enhance its visibility, attract more support, and strengthen its growing reputation as a progressive football institution committed to women’s football development in South East States and beyond.
