Coach Deutsch Dedicates Win Over Remo To Enyimba Fans As Chidera Hits 11th Goal

Enyimba FC Technical Adviser, Coach Emmanuel Deutsch Gustavo, has dedicated his side’s hard-fought 2-1 comeback victory over defending champions Remo Stars to the club’s loyal supporters, describing the result as a deserved reward for their unwavering backing.

The nine time Nigeria league champions rallied from a goal down to secure all three points in the NPFL Matchday 36 encounter decided on Sunday at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.

Remo Stars stunned the home crowd in the 20th minute when former Enyimba striker Victor Mbaoma produced a moment of brilliance inside the box, turning sharply before firing beyond the goalkeeper to hand the Sky Blue Stars the lead.

Enyimba, however, responded with urgency and purpose, spurred on by the massive home support. Veteran forward Stanley Dimgba, who earlier squandered a clear chance in the third minute, made amends as he poked home the equaliser to restore parity and ignite celebrations inside the Elephant Park.

The People’s Elephant completed the turnaround just four minutes into the second half when inform striker Chidera Michael struck his 11th goal of the campaign in the 49th minute, calmly finishing off Wonah Williams strike to put Enyimba in front and ultimately sealing the crucial victory.

Speaking after the match, Coach Deutsch said the win was a product of resilience and belief, stressing that his players deserved credit for their response after conceding first.

“It was a game everyone was looking forward to the result and I’m happy, not just me but every Abian. It’s a good gift for them,” Deutsch said.

The Enyimba boss also acknowledged the brilliance of the opponents but praised the fighting spirit of his squad, noting that their renewed confidence has been evident since their Abia State Federation Cup success.

“It’s football and I give it to the players for their good character and confidence, especially after going one goal down. Since after the FA Cup win against Ahudiyannem FC, you can see the confidence is coming back,” he added.

Remo Stars coach Abdala also acknowledged Enyimba’s resilience and character, admitting that the hosts showed strong mentality to recover from the early setback, even as he remained optimistic about his team’s prospects despite the defeat.

The victory takes Enyimba to 46 points from 36 matches, placing them 12th on the NPFL table as they continue their push for a strong finish to the season.

Next for the People’s Elephant is a trip to Lagos where they will face Kwara United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in their next league fixture next Sunday.
