Kaduna-Based Igbo Woman Cries Out Over Alleged False Murder Accusation

A 37-year-old Igbo woman, Miss Chinenye Peace Elechukwu, has raised the alarm over what she described as a false and distressing allegation linking her to the killing of a suspected Boko Haram member in Kaduna State.

Miss Elechukwu, an indigene of Osumenyi in Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, is an artisan and fashion designer based in Kabala West, Kaduna. 

She explained that she has been living in fear after allegedly being declared wanted in connection with an incident she insists was a case of self-defence.

According to her account, the incident occurred on December 29th, 2025, while she and a male acquaintance identified as Mr ThankGod were returning home from church. She said they noticed a suspicious individual trailing them.

“On our way back from church, Mr ThankGod noticed someone following us from behind. We became uncomfortable and vigilant,” she narrated.

Miss Elechukwu alleged that the man, whom she later heard was described as a suspected Boko Haram operative allegedly linked to a notorious bandit leader identified as Bello Turji, suddenly pulled out a knife and attempted to attack them.

She explained that in the ensuing struggle, Mr ThankGod reportedly overpowered the assailant, during which the knife allegedly pierced the attacker.

“To my greatest shock, after the incident, the next thing I heard was that I had been declared wanted for the killing of a suspected Boko Haram member,” she lamented.

“I was not the one who engaged him physically. We were victims of an attempted attack.”

Miss Elechukwu maintained that neither she nor Mr ThankGod set out to harm anyone, stressing that their actions were purely defensive in response to a perceived threat to their lives.

She appealed to security agencies to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter, saying she is ready to cooperate fully to clear her name.

As at the time of filing this report, security authorities in Kaduna State have not issued an official statement confirming the incident or the alleged declaration of Miss Elechukwu as wanted.

The case has sparked concern among residents and rights advocates, who have called for due process, cautioning against premature conclusions in matters involving serious criminal allegations.

Miss Elechukwu said her appeal is simple: “I want justice and a fair hearing. I am a law-abiding citizen and a mother trying to earn a living.”
