Obioma Okorie Hails Gov Uzodimma as Ozara Borehole Is Commissioned, Wife Bags Prestigious Church Honour

The Chairman of the  Edna Obioma Foundation and APC Apex Leader of Ozara Political Ward in Oru West Local Government Area, Dr. DCN Obioma Okorie (Nwa Ji Ugo Nnaya), popularly known as the “Dangote of South East Nigeria,” has commended Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural development across the state.

Dr. Okorie gave the commendation during the commissioning of a newly completed borehole project at Ettilabo Village, Ozara Town. The borehole, executed by the Ozara Ward Councillor, Hon. Asimonye Udennaka, is one of the community-based projects made possible through the financial empowerment of ward councillors by the Imo State Government.

Speaking at the event, the business mogul and political leader praised Governor Uzodimma for his leadership style and commitment to grassroots development, noting that the borehole project was a direct result of the governor’s vision to empower local representatives.

“I am a loyalist of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, GSSR, Onwa Imo. He is not just a governor by title but a working governor who has demonstrated exceptional leadership capacity, particularly in infrastructural development. The empowerment of ward councillors has made projects like this possible, and today we are celebrating that milestone,” Dr. Okorie said.

He further urged youths of the community to support the state government and shun violence, emphasizing that peace and cooperation would attract more development projects to Ozara and its environs. To underscore his commitment to community welfare, Dr. Okorie announced cash donations of ₦500,000 to support the youths and another ₦500,000 to assist the less privileged in the community.

“As a businessman, I can attest that the governor has created an enabling environment for businesses to thrive in Imo State. I encourage our youths to support the government so that more impactful projects will come to our community,” he added.

In a related development, Dr. Okorie’s wife, Hon. Mrs. Edna Obioma Okorie, former Commissioner for Women Affairs in Imo State and Vice Chairperson of the Obioma Edna Foundation, was honoured by St. Patrick Catholic Church, Ozara, with a prestigious award titled “Odiukonamba.” The honour was in recognition of her outstanding social, humanitarian, and spiritual contributions to the community.

Mrs. Okorie, flanked by her husband, received the award amid applause from parishioners, friends, and well-wishers. In appreciation, the Obioma Edna Foundation donated ₦1.7 million to the church, while friends and associates contributed an additional ₦500,000, bringing the total donation to ₦2.2 million.

Responding to the honour, Dr. Okorie expressed gratitude to the parish community and reaffirmed his support for the Uzodimma administration.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. This honour will spur us to do even more for humanity. God has indeed blessed us, and business is thriving because His Excellency has created a business-friendly environment in Imo State. We will continue to support his administration as he makes history through infrastructural development,” he said.

In her remarks, Hon. Mrs. Edna Okorie thanked the church for the recognition and echoed the call for continued support for Governor Uzodimma’s leadership.

“I sincerely appreciate the church community for finding me worthy of this honour. I cherish it deeply and join my husband in calling for absolute support for the visionary leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma,” she concluded.
