Chidera Michael's Brace Earns Enyimba Maximum Points, As Coach Law, Skipper Paschal Promise More
In what was a good advert for the NPFL league at the Enyimba Int'l Stadium, Aba, the People's Elephant true to their promise bounced back to winning ways with an emphatic victory over the Harmony Boys on Sunday.
Enyimba's young striker, Chidera Michael turned the NPFL matchday 17 encounter on his head in the second half with two well taken goals to increase his tally to 5 goals in the league and secure the maximum points for the nine time league champions.
Agu Samuel had in the 23rd minute given Enyimba the lead but Kwara United petit winger, Gidado Toheeb with his mesmerizing run sneaked into the box to grab an equalizer in the 31st minute pausing the jubilant Aba fans.
But the Coach Lawrence Ukaegbu boys were geared up by the team Skipper, Paschal Eze in the second stanza with a beautiful display of football skills, passes and intense pressing that eventually resulted into the second goal after Paschal returned a well floated Conner into the box for Chidera to cooly slot home restoring their lead at the 59th minute of play
Chidera's physical and high ball pressing also paid off when he pounced on a loose pass from Kwara Keeper to score his second of the game and his fifth goal of the season to the delight of the Aba fans
Reacting after the encounter, Coach Lawrence Ukaegbu and his captain expressed their delight with the win attributing it to hard work in training and the formation adopted.
Coach Ukaegbu said it wasn't a surprise;
"It was a good game and that's what we had expected because we prepared well for the encounter, it wasn't a surprise because it was a good one from us and am happy.
For the next game and how to consolidate, Coach Ukaegbu said;
"We were successful today because of the formation while attacking and defending, although we missed lots of chances.
"Now we will be heading to Maidugiri, we already know how they play and we will try to deploy a formation which I won't reveal here but we will be aiming for a positive result.
Meanwhile, the team Captain, Paschal Eze reiterated the teams promise of aiming to finish the first stanza on a high;
"Am happy we got the victory as we promised, this is like a home for me now I am in my fifth season with Enyimba so am happy.
"Like I promised before the Kwara United game, we are on a mission and we want to finish this first stanza on a good note and the boys understand what is at stake.
"In Maidugiri we will also fight for the maximum points to put a smile on the face of our darling fans.
With the victory Enyimba moved up on the log with 23 points and will next travel to Maidugiri for a date with the Desert Warriors on Sunday for matchday 18 encounter.
