The National Treasurer-elect of Imo State University Alumni Association (IMSUAA) in the just concluded 2024 general elections Saran-Ify Oguike, has opened up on her new role, stating that the new position is a challenging one having served in same capacity for two terms at the Lagos Chapter before deciding to serve at the National level.

Saran-Ify who will be making her debut at the national executive council of IMSUAA disclosed this to our correspondent while felicitating with the President-elect, Mr. Charles Nwosu (Porpor) who garnered 75 votes to become the 5th elected President of the IMSUAA in the same election where she emerged.

“I congratulate Porpor on his emergence as President-elect and will do my best to work in his administration as treasurer”. “It is going to be a new challenge and I hope to give my best to serve at this level because I noticed that the confidence reposed in me was high” an elated Saran-Ify started.

“I served the Lagos State chapter as treasurer for two tenures, but now it is going to be a different thing because I will be dealing with a larger number of persons from far-flung areas of the country and also those in diaspora too and this will be more challenging”.

Saran-Ify who is the CEO of Saran-Ify Sports academy further stated that it was not an easy decision resigning as Vice Chairman-elect of Lagos chapter to enable her vie for the position of the National Treasurer. This was a decision she made to enable her to come to the national level and serve in a larger capacity and she is prepared to face the new challenge.

She further hinted that one of the challenges she experienced while serving Lagos Chapter was when Saran-Ify Sports academy partnered with the IMSUAA 2023 Convention hosted by Bayelsa Chapter. The vehicle conveying souvenirs and match jerseys from Lagos to Bayelsa broke down on the road in Benin which led to her father going down to Benin to rescue and safe-guard the items, before Bayelsa-based Hon. Ebitei Robert Tonyon intervened with military assistance to help pick up the items and conveyed them safely to Bayelsa for the convention at a cost which he bore.

“It is something I have always loved to do by supporting the IMSUAA convention, I did that during the Lagos 2022, Bayelsa 2023 and Abia 2024, but that of Bayelsa 2023 had that challenge and it was a bit tough”. “However, I was appointed as the Patroness of the IMSU Football team and for me that was a way of consoling me for the pains experienced during the Bayelsa 2023 convention and I appreciate that so much”.

Saran-Ify  who is happily married to Sir Oguike Athanesius Ifeanyi in Ezike, Isiala Mbano Local government area of Imo State further added that she owe her husband and a lot of persons appreciation for their moral support and encouragement in serving the Alumni at all levels.

“I must not fail to thank my husband Sir Oguike Athanesius Ifeanyi for his support, he is a man with understanding and I appreciate him. Also my appreciation goes to Enyioha Chris Anyanwu, Zeph Nwanochie, Franza Azode, newly elected Lagos Chapter Chairman Dr. Prince Nwaulu and a host of others in Lagos chapter whom have been a source of inspiration to me”

“My appreciation further goes to the outgoing National President, Barr. Okey Ozumba (Nzekanobi), the chairman of the electoral committee Victor Iwualla KSJI for a job well done and specifically to Dr. Ijeoma Amos who campaigned vigorously for me even without meeting me in person” “I was moved by her massive show of love and support for my aspiration and I really appreciate her”.

Saran-Ify who is now treasurer-elect of IMSUAA further hinted that she will not allow her new role discourage her from active participation at the Lagos Chapter of the IMSU Alumni Association.
