Again Abia Resonates, Makes History, Hosts S'East Regional Security Summit In Umuahia Today

In a deliberate quest to achieve secured and peaceful environment in the five Southeast States (Abia, Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi and Enugu), a one -day South East Regional Security Summit has been scheduled to hold today, Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10a.m. at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, capital city of Abia State.

The GLGSWDCO reliably gathered that the choice of Abia to host the high level summit out of the five South East states of the geo political zone, is due to the secured and peaceful environment which the Otti Administration has provided in all corners of the state.

According to a statement by the planning committee, it is being organised by the Minister of Defence in Collaboration with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA), to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Community Engagement (South East), having its theme as "Collaboration Approach to Strengthening Security and Regional Stability."

The statement added that the Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Gov Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is the Chief Host, supported by the other four South East Governors.

Others expected are the Senate President, Sen Godswill Akpabio (Special Guest of Honour); all the five South East Governors; a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika (Keynote Speaker); the Minister of Defence / convener of the summit, Gen. Christopher Musa, among other security chiefs in the Army, Navy, Air force, the Police, other sister security agencies, and stakeholders in the security sub - sector.

WRITER'S NOTE: The choice of Umuahia, the capital city of Abia State, governed by His Excellency, Gov Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, was not by happenstance. The city was carefully chosen to host the security summit for the South East zone, at the ambience laden world - class International Conference Centre, given the level of security and convivial environment put in place by the Abia State Governor in all corners of the state. This is another goal for all Abians. We welcome all the participants as they enjoy the peace haven, and deliberate on how to secure the South East geo political zone, and Nigeria, by extension.
