Theresa Okwu Assumes Duty As SEMB Executive Secretary

The memories of Monday March 2,2026,will continue to linger in the hearts of Mrs Theresa Okwu,as she officially assumed duty as the Executive Secretary of Imo State Secondary Education Management Board. 

In a press statement made available to journalists and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Board,Mr Pascal Njoku,revealed that the handing over ceremony took place at the Executive Secretary's Office, block 3,State Secretariat Complex,Port-Harcourt road Owerri.

The source disclosed that the out-gone Executive Secretary,Dame Augustina Nneoma Azubuike,handed over to her successor the office keys,official Seal of the Board which is the symbol of Authorithy, a bag containing vital documents of the Board and promised to conclude the formalities on wednesday when all the inventories and reports from all the departments must have been ready.

Journalists gathered that the former Executive Secretary had earlier addressed all the staff of the Board before the ceremonial handover.

In her valedictory speech,she thanked and appreciated SEMB staff for woking with her in the last two years and eight months,pointing out that she tried her best and made sacrificies that yielded fruitful dividends.

Responding shortly after the Hand Over,the soft spoken new Executive Secretary,noted that her new position is an elevation with more responsibilities, stressing that with the crop of Directors she has seen around her,that she has no doubt that the job will be easy and success will be their end product.

She promised to continue from where her predeccessor stopped,adding with new person,there will be changes.

It would be recalled that the new Executive Secretary prior to her appointment,has served the Board in different capacities,as a classroom teacher,Principal in different schools,WAEC Examiner and Imo State Secretary of ANCOPSS.
