
Pentecost Sunday: Speaking In Tongues Not Gateway To Heaven, Says Catholic Priest

Sunday 8th June, 2025, was celebrated as feast of pentecost by Catholic Church all over the world.
Addressing Catholic faithful during his homily,the parish priest of St.Anthony's Catholic Church Umuezukwe Awo-omamma, in Oru East LGA of Imo State/Orlu diocese, Rev Fr. Sebastain Mgbe, said that pentecost sunday marks the end of Easter celebration and that it was a day that the holy spirit descended on the apostles, adding that pentecost is gift of the holy spirit.
He enjoined Christians to use their gift wisely,pointing out that for them to receive pentecost,that they must prepare for it.
Fr.Ogbuehi as he is fondly called,noted that some people speak in tongues, yet there is no visible changes in them,stressing that speaking in tongues is not gate way to heaven. The clergyman said that some who speak in tongues are not in good terms with their parents,noting that one needs wisdom,love,fear of God, understanding etc to be able to go to heaven.
He opined that every body has spirit of God, but sin has covered it,and maintained that he wants to see practical pentecost in their lives.
Speaking on the just concluded 3-Days Youth Summit,the man of God warned youths against indulging in practices that will drag them to the mud,and warned them against drinking alcohol indiscriminately, stressing that those that indulge in such habits are closer to their graves.
The cleric seemingly warned against going into yahoo yahoo business,"oke ite", patronizing yahoo native doctors and yahoo pastors.
He urged them to attend any church of their choice on sundays,and warned them against going to ministries.
He further stated that as youths,that they are still in their prime,wearing ear rings,hoods,and all manner of dressing,adding that they will discover their stand in the society when they get married.
He thanked them for coming out en masse for the Youth Week summit.
