Ahead 2027 Election: Imo Advocacy For Good Governance Insists On Owerri Zone
Governor_..Demands For Credible Candidates With Integrity, Capacity & Character_
The Imo Advocacy for Good Governance (IMAGG), a foremost sociocultural and political association with a robust and functional structure across all 27 Local Government Areas and 305 Political Wards of Imo State, held a high-level strategic meeting at the Ambassador Hotel, Mbaise Road, Owerri.
The meeting, which was well attended by leaders and representatives from the three geopolitical zones of the state, provided a platform for deep reflection on the socio-political future of Imo State and the collective aspirations of its people ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
After extensive deliberations marked by patriotism, maturity, and a shared commitment to the progress of Imo State, the Association resolved as follows:
Affirmation of Core Objective: IMAGG reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the promotion of Good Governance, accountable leadership, and people-centred development in Imo State.
The Association remains steadfast in its resolve to support only candidates whose vision, character, competence, and manifesto demonstrably align with the ideals of transparent, inclusive, and transformative governance.
Support for Owerri Zone Governorship: Consistent with the principles of equity, fairness, and rotational justice that have defined the political culture of Imo State, IMAGG reiterates its earlier position to support a credible Governorship candidate of Owerri Zone extraction in the 2027 election. This position is rooted in the belief that power must rotate peacefully to ensure balanced development and sustained unity across the three zones of the state.
Issue-Based and Non-Partisan Approach: IMAGG shall engage candidates across all political parties without prejudice. Our support shall be determined solely by the quality of character, integrity, capacity, and alignment with the Association’s good governance agenda, rather than partisan affiliation.
Strategic Engagement Process: IMAGG leadership informed members that the Association’s Strategic Planning Committee has concluded arrangements to commence a comprehensive interface with prospective candidates. Through its extensive grassroots network, IMAGG will meticulously identify, assess, and endorse the most competent, credible, and development-oriented candidates at all levels for collaboration and partnership in the greater interest of Imo State.
The Association calls on all well-meaning Imo citizens, traditional rulers, leaders of thought, youth and women groups to join hands in the noble quest for a new era of purposeful leadership anchored on transparency, justice, equity, and sustainable development.
IMAGG remains committed to playing a constructive and stabilizing role in the political process, guided always by the highest ideals of patriotism and service to the people of Imo State.
