Cpl. Nmeregini Chidinma Grace, the reigning LBO European title holder, paid a courtesy visit to the Hon. Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, reflecting on the institution that played a significant role in shaping her boxing career.
The champion, a native of Bende Local Government Area, lost her parents at the age of five but rose above the challenges through resilience and determination.
Her journey in boxing began to take shape after winning a silver medal at the 2006 Open Boxing Championship in Sunshine, Akure.
Between 2006 and 2012, her association with the Abia State Sports Council further fueled her passion and strengthened her resolve to pursue boxing professionally.
During the visit, Chidinma commended the impressive progress being recorded in the sports sector under the leadership of the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti (OFR), noting that his administration has continued to prioritize sports development. She also acknowledged the efforts of the Hon. Commissioner for Sports for championing policies and initiatives that are creating meaningful opportunities for athletes.
