REDEMPTION MISSION: ENYIMBA SET FOR TITANIC CLASH WITH LEADERS, IKORODU CITY

Nine-time Nigerian champions, Enyimba FC, will be out for redemption on Sunday as they host league leaders Ikorodu City in a high stakes NPFL Matchday 26 showdown at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba. Kick-off is 4pm.

Fresh from a setback in Benin against Insurance FC, the People’s Elephant return to Aba with a clear objective respond like champions. Despite playing behind closed doors, Coach Deji Ayeni’s men understand the weight of the badge and the expectations of millions of supporters who will be following across the country.

Ikorodu City, fondly called the “Oga Boys,” sits atop the NPFL table and arrives Aba determined to consolidate their lead ahead of second placed Rivers United. However, history offers Enyimba a psychological edge. Since 2024, both sides have met three times, with the Aba giants claiming one win and two draws, remaining unbeaten against the Lagos outfit.

For Enyimba, this is more than just three points. It is about climbing the log, reigniting momentum, and finishing the season with strength and authority.

Coach Ayeni is boosted by positive team news. Mojeed Adekunle returns to bolster the squad, while Paul Odeh is back and available after resolving family matters. Ezekiel Edidiong and Wonah Williams, who both missed the Benin trip, are in contention for selection, giving the technical crew valuable options as they prepare for the table-toppers.

The Elephant Park may be without its usual roaring crowd, but the spirit of Aba remains alive. Enyimba knows that a victory on Sunday will send a strong message to the rest of the league, the People’s Elephant are far from done.

Matchday 26 promises intensity, pride, and a battle for supremacy.
