In view of the ongoing 67th Annual National Congress of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) taking place in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the National Standing Committee of ANCOPSS, led by its National President, Alhaji Muhammad Ibn Musa, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of the Imo State Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) as a mark of honour.
In his remarks, Alhaji Musa stated that it is customary for ANCOPSS to pay a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Education whenever they hold their congress, noting that their first point of call in Imo was SEMB. He explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally inform the Executive Secretary of their presence in the state for the annual congress and to express their delight that the SEMB boss is one of their own.
The ANCOPSS National President also appreciated the benevolence of the Governor of Imo State for graciously accepting to host this year’s congress. He commended the peaceful atmosphere in Imo, revealing that contrary to widespread rumours, he did not witness any form of the alleged Monday lockdown during his stay. He further described ANCOPSS as an advisory body to the Ministry of Education, playing a vital role in shaping education policies across the country.
Responding, the Executive Secretary of SEMB, Mrs. Tina Azubuike, warmly welcomed the delegation to her office and urged them to feel at home, assuring them that Imo State is indeed safe. She emphasized that residents go about their normal businesses and social activities—such as weddings and burials—without fear, cautioning that not all information circulated on social media about the state is accurate.
The ANCOPSS National Standing Committee members were formally introduced to the SEMB boss by the Imo State ANCOPSS President, Pastor Kevin Azugwu.
